Machine Builder
Location: Warren, MI
Shift: 1st Shift – Start 6:00 AM
Pay: $22–$24/hour
Type: Long-term contract to hire
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Machine Builder to assemble, install, and maintain machinery for automotive projects, including Chrysler, Ford, and GM. This role requires someone who can work independently, solve problems, and ensure quality throughout all project phases—from build to customer installation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble machinery and equipment according to blueprints, BOMs, and NAAMS standards.
- Assist project teams in resolving build and installation issues.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety/environmental regulations.
- Update E-BOM summaries weekly and provide to the Mechanical Supervisor.
- Verify parts and assemblies conform to specifications.
- Perform basic welding and machining tasks.
- Operate tools, cranes, and rigging equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Adhere to project timelines and quality standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications

One-year certificate from a college or technical school or 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in common automotive build practices (Chrysler, Ford, GM).
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, detail prints, key sheets, and stencils.
- Understanding of welding, machining, and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, metric scale).
- Knowledge of NAAMS standards for subassemblies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Own tools and PPE required.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Preferred Competencies
- Strong problem-solving skills for medium-complexity projects.
- Ability to analyze instructions in written, diagram, or schedule form.
- Comfort working with mathematical concepts such as fractions, ratios, geometry, and basic statistics.
- Effective communication skills for reporting, collaborating with teams, and interacting with customers.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate mills, welders, and other machinery.
- Capable of lifting, rigging, and handling parts safely.
