Week 1:
- Mon/Tue: 5am–5pm
- Wed/Thu: Off
- Fri/Sat/Sun: 5pm–5am
Week 2:
- Mon/Tue: Off
- Wed/Thu: 5am–5pm
- Fri/Sat/Sun: Off
Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician will work as part of a dynamic team, developing expertise in chemical and instrument measurement processes. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, eager to develop technical knowledge, and able to contribute to both individual and team success.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality assurance testing of in-process samples, raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods in alignment with company policies and quality standards.
- Analyze raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products to ensure they meet established specifications.
- Provide quality data, participate in lab and plant process improvement initiatives, and collaborate actively with laboratory and production staff.
- Use software tools such as Microsoft Office, LabWare, SAP, Power BI, and Lotus Notes to evaluate and report data.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation including gas chromatographs, viscometers, spectrophotometers, pH meters, titrators, and more.
- Participate in quality assurance/control activities, root cause investigations, and internal/customer audits.
- Create and modify procedures and standard testing instructions (STIs).
- Facilitate meetings (such as Tier 2 meetings) with observation from leadership.
- Train new employees and participate in Gage R&R/validations.
- Generate statistical data, support process control, and contribute to ongoing product quality improvements.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Chemistry or a two-year technical degree in analytical testing (or related field) preferred.
- 0–2 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing laboratory environment.
- Basic knowledge of general chemistry, laboratory instruments, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Understanding of QA/QC techniques, math, statistics, and ISO/RCMS quality requirements.
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office, Power BI, SAP, Lotus Notes, etc.
- Ability to lead projects and meetings with minimal supervision.
- Capable of training new employees and taking initiative in continuous improvement efforts.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 30–50 pounds.
- Frequent standing and walking in the work environment.
- Occasional lifting, bending, twisting, and use of stairs.
- Occasional use of respiratory protection and physical exertion when handling materials.
