NVH Technologist I
Location: Dearborn, MI
Job Type: Long-term Contract (Open-ended; Potential for Direct Hire)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime as Needed)
Pay Rate: $23 – $27 per hour (Paid sick leave and optional benefits available)
Position Summary
The Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) Technologist I supports engineering testing for the research and development of vehicles, products, sub-systems, components, and materials. This role is responsible for setting up and executing tests, collecting and analyzing data using specialized equipment, control software, and data acquisition systems. You will ensure testing is performed according to established procedures and prepare test reports for internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up test equipment and instrumentation
- Conduct tests and accurately document test setup and results
- Verify testing accuracy and determine the need for additional testing
- Identify NVH, durability, or testing issues and assist in developing countermeasures
- Clearly communicate test findings to team members and stakeholders
- Perform minor automotive mechanical work as required for testing
- Complete part changes and test-related modifications
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of NVH testing or related experience
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical field
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of one or more of the following areas:
- Powertrain and driveline NVH
- Vehicle NVH
- Modal analysis
- Mount systems
- Acoustic and damping materials
- Experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and data processing techniques
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong ability to multi-task and work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
- Experience with NVH testing and analysis software such as:
- Siemens Simcenter Test.Lab
- National Instruments LabVIEW
- MTS Flextest
- Ability to diagnose and solve NVH issues using experimental and analytical methods
- Strong data processing skills and general knowledge of underlying mathematics
- Ability to operate powertrain or chassis dynamometers
- Experience developing and constructing custom test stands
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, when required
