$27.00/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major chemical, research, and agriculture organization to hire a Quality Laboratory Technician. This position is responsible for performing quality assurance testing on raw materials, in-process samples, intermediates, and finished products. The role supports plant operations by providing timely, accurate analytical results and ensuring conformance to internal and external product specifications. This position plays a key role in maintaining product quality and supporting continuous improvement in both lab and plant processes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform chemical and physical testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to verify specification compliance or recommend product adjustments.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments such as gas chromatographs, viscometers, spectrophotometers, pH meters, and titrators.
- Record and analyze test results, and communicate findings effectively with production and operations teams.
- Interpret and follow standardized test instructions (STIs) and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Use software tools such as SAP, LabWare, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office, and Power BI for data recording, analysis, and reporting.
- Support quality improvement initiatives by generating accurate data, performing statistical evaluations, and contributing ideas to enhance lab and plant performance.
- Maintain compliance with ISO/RCMS quality system requirements and all health and safety protocols.
- Perform equipment verifications and health/safety inspections as scheduled.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented environment, assisting coworkers and adapting to shifting priorities and workloads.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED is required at a minimum. We prefer candidates who have an Associate’s degree (or higher) in Chemistry or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of general chemistry and lab instrumentation.
- Familiarity with quality control principles, including data analysis, math/statistics, and ISO/RCMS systems.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and lab software (SAP, Power BI, Lotus Notes).
- Strong attention to detail and scientific mindset.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and occasional overtime.
Preferred:
- We prefer 2+ years of relevant experience in a chemical manufacturing laboratory environment. Candidates may be considered without this experience if they have a relevant Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- TWIC card is a plus, but not required
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- This role follows a rotating shift schedule designed to provide 24/7 operational coverage. Team members typically work a repeating pattern of 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on (switching shift types), followed by 3 days off, and 2 days on (switching again). The schedule alternates between day and night shifts throughout the rotation and includes coverage across weekdays and weekends. Flexibility to work varied hours, weekends, and holidays is required.
- Any overtime will be paid at 1.5x.
- This is a fully on site role (no remote work).
- Offer may be contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen (drug screen would not include cannabis).
- Occasional lifting, bending, and twisting. Ability to lift 30-50 pounds. Ability to stand and walk in the work environment for the majority of the time. Occasional use of stairs and respiratory protection.
