Automotive Test Engineer

Position Overview

Join HRU as an Automotive Test Engineer and play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of automotive diagnostic and ECU flash programming applications. You’ll validate cutting-edge software for vehicle communication systems, contribute to product quality, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

-    Test Planning & Execution:

Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for diagnostic and ECU flash programming applications.

-    Software Validation:

Validate software and core releases related to vehicle communication systems and diagnostic tools.

-    Defect Documentation:

Identify, document, and help resolve defects and issues using MS TFS/Azure DevOps.

-    Hands-On Testing:

Perform rigorous electrical and mechanical testing, including light vehicle disassembly when required.

-    Test System Automation:

Design, automate, and implement test systems using LabVIEW and related platforms.

-    Data Analysis & Reporting:

Analyze test results, document findings, and provide design improvement recommendations.

-    Collaboration:

Engage with cross-functional engineering teams, participating in meetings and project reviews.

-    Lab Safety & Standards:

Ensure adherence to lab safety, housekeeping, and organizational standards.


Qualifications

Required:

-    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.

-    Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

-    Strong multitasking ability; able to work independently or as part of a team.

-    Familiarity with automotive systems and diagnostic tools (e.g., TECH 2, VLT, CAT, or similar).

-    Understanding of serial communication protocols (CAN, LAN, UART, etc.).

-    Experience with LabVIEW programming and the ability to interpret electrical schematics.

-    Valid MI Drivers license.

Preferred:

-    3+ years of experience in automotive electrical and/or mechanical testing.

-    Additional technical training, associate, or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

-    ASE Certification.

-    Candidates with 0–2 years of relevant experience will be considered for entry-level roles.

 

Education:

High school diploma or GED required.
