Type of Position:
This position will begin as a 6-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 6 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a company serving the aerospace and defense industry. We’re seeking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Manager who will play a critical role in our Data Management and Microelectronics division. We are seeking an experienced engineering leader who thrives on taking on new challenges, shaping high-performing teams, and influencing our product roadmap. In this role, you will lead a team of 7–10 manufacturing engineers, driving process improvements, implementing best-in-class procedures, and collaborating to deliver cutting-edge electronics that are vital to our nation’s defense.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct the day-to-day activities of the Manufacturing Engineering team, ensuring successful execution of manufacturing deliverables on products and programs.
- Identify, maintain, and expand technical expertise within the group; provide technical guidance to the team.
- Execute strategic initiatives and assign responsibilities to achieve goals set by business leadership and the Annual Operating Plan.
- Support the professional growth of team members through cross-training, mentorship, and ongoing career development discussions.
- Attract and retain top engineering talent to support our growth and revenue objectives.
- Hold self and team accountable for high-quality work and on-time delivery of milestones.
- Align and motivate the team around our purpose, culture, and values while ensuring clarity on project priorities and roles.
- Foster open, respectful, and collaborative relationships across engineering and other departments.
- Partner closely with the Chief Engineer, Operations, Program Management, and Technical Project Managers to ensure on-time delivery and quality for new product developments and production programs.
- Proactively address challenges, making rapid course corrections to achieve business objectives.
- Manage relationships with current vendors and subcontractors to ensure quality, budget adherence, and on-time delivery; identify and qualify new vendors as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing engineering teams.
- Strong background in process improvement and root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D, Lean Six Sigma).
- Hands-on experience with microelectronics packaging processes, including wirebond, die bond, solder reflow, flip chip, SMT, wafer processing, etc.
- Experience supporting proposal development for Department of Defense (DoD) contracts.
- Ability to thrive in a matrix-style organization.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- This position follows a 9/80 schedule, typically working 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday, with alternating Fridays off. The Friday worked is a shorter day (6 hours).
