Candidate Requirements:

This role is ONLY open to US Citizens. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) and any other work authorizations are NOT permitted here as this role requires eligibility to obtain a secret clearance (a secret clearance is only open to US Citizens). To be clear, a clearance isn’t required to start (but all candidates must be eligible to obtain one eventually). Due to the nature of this role (working for a defense contractor tied to the federal government) – candidates will need to pass a drug screen (which will include cannabis). There are no exceptions to this (eg: a medical card). 

Location: 

McConnellsburg, PA (on site role, no remote or hybrid). We are seeking local candidates (relocation assistance is not available).

About the Role:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major defense contractor and specialty vehicle manufacturer to hire a Network Engineer to join our global infrastructure team supporting an $8B Fortune 500 company. In this role, you will provide service delivery support and lead network projects across the entire organization. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience, a willingness to be hands-on, and an interest in growing into more senior responsibilities over time. This direct hire position offers an excellent opportunity for long-term career development and internal promotion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Palo Alto technologies including Firewall, Panorama, GlobalProtect VPN, URL Filtering, IoT Security, PRISMA, and related tools.
• Support Cisco technologies such as switching, routing (including SD-WAN), Cisco ISE for 802.1X and TACACS, DNA Center, Wireless, and ACI.
• Maintain and support medium to high complexity network operations and incident resolution.
• Deliver solutions for both ongoing operational needs and project initiatives.
• Participate as a technical resource on cross-functional application and infrastructure projects.
• Assist with requirements gathering, solution design, and implementation.
• Share knowledge as a subject matter expert, mentor team members, and contribute to documentation and process improvement.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Information Technology or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with network services such as DNS and DHCP.
• Familiarity with Cisco networking (switching, routing, wireless) and potentially Cisco ISE or DNA Center.
• Ability to travel up to approximately 15%.
• Strong communication skills, organizational ability, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cisco, Palo Alto, and/or cloud certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, ITIL Foundation, Network+).
• IT experience in the manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience managing enterprise-level networks.
• Proficiency in creating network diagrams in Microsoft Visio.
• Strong time management and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

Work Environment / Other Info:

• 1st shift role, 40 hours/week. On-call rotation every 8 weeks (Monday to Monday)
• Occasional travel to campuses across Pennsylvania (most within 45 minutes) – approx. 15% travel
• Offer may be contingent upon a background check, and a drug screen.
