Contracts Administrator (FAR, DFARS)


Type of Position:

This position will start as a 6-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While some individuals are converted to direct hire as early as 3 months, most transitions occur between 6 to 12 months. Contract extensions beyond 12 months are possible, though the majority of contractors typically convert within the first year. Direct hire is not guaranteed but is a common path for high-performing contributors.


Candidate Requirements:

This role is working for a major defense contractor. Candidates must be either US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) to be eligible for this role. Candidates on CPT, OPT, H1B or TN visas are also not eligible for this role. This company is NOT open to corp2corp (c2c) or corp2hire (c2h). Offer may be contingent upon passing a background check and a drug screen (drug screen would include Cannabis).


Job Location:

Jacksonville, FL (on site role)

  

Compensation:

$31.48/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

  • Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) – benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
  • This role will have 5 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.


Overview:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major defense contractor to hire a Contracts Administrator to support contract and proposal activities across various business areas. In this role, you will help ensure compliance with U.S. Government Acquisition regulations, corporate policies, and contractual obligations. You will work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, contributing to contract development, negotiation, execution, and closeout activities.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of U.S. Government acquisition processes, FAR/DFARS, export regulations, and company policies.
  • Independently lead and support proposal development, including analyzing solicitations, drafting terms and assumptions, and coordinating with proposal teams.
  • Prepare, review, and submit contract documentation with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate internal review processes and obtain required approvals prior to proposal submissions or contract execution.
  • Lead or support contract negotiations and interface with customers on contractual matters.
  • Analyze and prepare agreements such as NDAs, Teaming Agreements, MOUs, and Strategic Alliances under the guidance of the Contracts Manager.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned contracts, including management of proprietary information agreements and other auxiliary documents.
  • Track and maintain accurate records of all contractual documentation and correspondence.
  • Support audits, fact-finding, and contract closeout processes.
  • Develop specialized expertise in contract types, international contracting, or intellectual property, as needed.


Skills, Education, Experience – Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED, plus 2–3 years of relevant experience in contract management or U.S. Government contracting.
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) contracting environment.
  • Experience with cost-type, cost-plus, firm fixed price, and prime contracts.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal stakeholders, customers, and vendors.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Capable of working independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diplomacy and professionalism across levels of an organization.


Skills, Education, Experience – Preferred:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of contract law, legal terminology, and government regulations.
  • Familiarity with procurement practices and project management concepts.
  • Experience using contract management software or document databases.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of commercial contracting and international contracting practices.
  • Experience interfacing with legal, finance, and other business functions.


Work Environment:

  • This is a 1st (day) shift role. Typical hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
  • There may be occasional overtime in this role. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x.
