Type of Position:

This position will begin as a 12-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 12 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 4 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.


Job Location:

Warren, MI (hybrid role).


Compensation:

$24.00/hr to $27.00/hr (depending on experience) to start. Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major automotive manufacturer hire a Licensing Agreement Coordinator (Paralegal). This role is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and managing the development and renewal of licensing agreements, particularly in support of our oil licensing contracts. The individual will interface closely with legal staff, industry organizations, and licensees to ensure agreements are accurate, compliant, and completed on time. This role will also manage compliance activities, deliver intellectual property to licensees, and prepare regular reporting and presentations for leadership.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, schedule, and manage the development and renewal of agreements with licensees, ensuring deadlines are met and agreements do not lapse
  • Interface with company legal staff and external stakeholders to support contract execution and compliance
  • Manage compliance activities for licensees, including tracking obligations and ensuring accuracy
  • Prepare monthly presentations and status reports for leadership
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret complex data as needed to support licensing strategy
  • Coordinate and manage the delivery of intellectual property to licensees
  • Assist in developing licensing strategy and support non-recurring special assignments
  • Manage projects and budgets related to licensing activities
  • Maintain frequent contact with stakeholders outside of the immediate work group, including industry organizations
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management


Skills, Education, Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required at a minimum.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contracts
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and tasks simultaneously
  • Above-average verbal and written communication skills, including presentation capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • High level of analytical ability for solving unusual or complex problems
  • Knowledge of the independent automotive aftermarket
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed


Skills, Education, Experience Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Understanding of intellectual property licensing practices
  • Familiarity with regulatory and legal requirements related to service and parts information
  • Knowledge of Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association standards
  • Experience with automotive aftermarket licensing
  • Knowledge of automotive service and parts-specific file formats
  • Supervisory experience


Work Environment / Other Info:

  • This will be a 1st (day) shift role, typical business hours. Monday to Friday.
  • This is a hybrid role. 3 days on-site (Tue–Thu) in Warren, MI; remote work on Mon & Fri.
  • There may be occasional (rare) overtime. Any OT would be compensated at 1.5x the regular hourly rate.
  • Offer may be contingent upon a background check and a drug screen (drug screen would NOT include cannabis).
