Machine Repair Technician III
Location: Los Angeles, CA (LAX Airport)
Contract: 3 to 6 months with possible extensions or direct hire
Schedule: Mon through Fri (9am to 530pm)
Compensation: $37 to 38/hour with paid sick leave and optional benefits
Position Summary
The Machine Repair Technician III is a senior-level role responsible for advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) systems and related electrical/mechanical equipment. This position leads preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance efforts while providing technical guidance and supporting operational reliability in a fast-paced airport environment.

Key Responsibilities
Advanced Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex PBB systems, controls, and components
- Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance
- Execute repairs across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Support predictive and preventative maintenance strategies
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead maintenance activities and delegate tasks to team members
- Provide technical guidance and support to technicians
- Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and internal teams
Systems & Analysis
- Document maintenance activities in CMMS systems
- Analyze system data to identify trends and drive improvements
- Interpret manuals, schematics, and work orders for accurate execution
Operations Support
- Operate forklifts, company vehicles, and other equipment as required
- Communicate critical updates and escalate issues appropriately
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety programs, policies, and training requirements
- Maintain safe work practices in high-risk airport environments
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance
- 5+ years of maintenance experience
- Availability to work multiple shifts, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with airport operations
- Intermediate knowledge of PLC control systems
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
- Experience with passenger boarding bridges or conveyance systems
- Proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office tools
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Work in confined spaces and at heights (ladder use required)
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Strong hand-eye coordination and visual acuity
Work Environment
- Airport operational environment with exposure to:
- Aircraft operations and heavy equipment
- Moving mechanical parts and elevated work areas
- Weather conditions, fumes, chemicals, and vibration
- High noise levels requiring PPE
