Senior Quality Engineer
Type of Position:
This position will begin as a 4-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 4 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.
Candidate Requirements:
This role is with a major defense contractor and requires candidates to be Secret Eligible. While an active Secret clearance is not required, it is preferred. Candidates must be US citizens per the clearance requirement (no exceptions). Offers may be contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen (including testing for cannabis).
Job Location:
Hudson, NH (on site role).
Compensation:
Generally $55.00/hr to $65.00/hr (depending on experience) - but there may be some flexibility for well-qualified candidates. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate for any hours worked over 40 per week.

- Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) – benefit eligibility will begin the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
- This role will have 7 paid holidays and 10 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.
Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a leading provider of secure, mission-critical technologies for aerospace and defense. We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for our facility in Hudson, NH. In this role you will lead, improve, and effectively execute development, manufacturing, and supplier-related processes to support product delivery, improve customer satisfaction, and achieve internal business goals. You will collaborate across functions – including customers, internal departments, and sub-tier suppliers – to ensure product quality from development through manufacturing and continuous production. This is a hands-on role, working with a team of quality engineers, technicians, and inspectors engaged throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Product Development:
- Guide design for quality, manufacturability, and producibility.
- Ensure compliance of project quality plans with customer requirements and applicable standards/regulations.
- Lead critical aspects of transitioning products from development to manufacturing.
- Act as a technical interface between engineering development and manufacturing.
- Provide feedback and metrics on New Product Introduction (NPI), and lead process and quality improvements.
Manufacturing Support:
- Drive improvements in process capability, repeatability, efficiency, and product quality by collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
- Focus on yield improvement, process optimization, and cost-reduction methods.
- Enhance business practices and processes to enable greater consistency, efficiency, and scalability.
Quality and Continuous Improvement:
- Prevent defects using process, supplier, manufacturing, and quality controls.
- Develop and implement product quality plans, PFMEA, and control plans.
- Ensure product compliance through comprehensive functional tests and inspections.
- Lead qualification of new suppliers and internal processes.
- Identify and control sources of variation in the supply chain, manufacturing, and test processes.
- Implement lean concepts and Six Sigma to drive a lean quality culture.
- Lead robust root-cause and corrective action processes with stakeholders.
- Oversee effective implementation of changes—including ECOs—into manufacturing and supply chain processes.
Customer & Supplier Engagement:
- Efficiently process customer RMAs, conduct failure analysis, and ensure responsive communication.
- Interface with customers, providing regular quality updates and quality status reporting.
- Review customer scorecards, and drive alignment of improvement initiatives with customer satisfaction.
- Facilitate 8D corrective action and continuous improvement activities.
Training & Documentation:
- Develop troubleshooting and repair schemes, manufacturing process controls, and documentation.
- Train manufacturing and quality personnel on process and knowledge transfer for high-volume production launches.
- Monitor, measure, and communicate key quality metrics.
- Prepare and deliver quality reviews to management, peers, and customers.
Compliance & Standards:
- Promote adherence to the Quality Management System (e.g., AS9100) and drive system improvements
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, operations project management, or quality for complex electromechanical assemblies/systems.
- Familiarity with workmanship criteria: IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD, MIL-STD-883.
- Experience on Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
- Demonstrable knowledge of AS9100 Rev D and experience in aerospace environments.
- Leadership skills: ability to mentor, coach, and communicate effectively at all organizational levels, including customers.
- Experience building cross-functional working relationships to support business strategies.
- Commitment to maintaining professional competence and required technical skills.
- Broad knowledge of quality standards, methods, and practices.
- Experience working in a matrix organization, supporting multiple products and projects.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as soldering, machining, brazing/welding, painting, and plating.
- Understanding of labor standards, line balancing, fault tree analysis, and statistical process control.
- Familiarity with software including Agile PLM (or similar), Oracle, SolidWorks, Jira, and Jama.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven initiative, problem-solving capabilities, and ability to implement improvements.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
Preferred:
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- This is a 1st (day) shift position following a 9/80 schedule. Employees typically work nine-hour days from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (including a one-hour lunch) Monday through Thursday, and a six-hour day on alternating Fridays. Every other Friday is a scheduled day off. There may be occasional overtime which would be compensated at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate.
