Location: Sterling Heights, MI

$28-32/hr with a 9/80 work schedule

This role is open ONLY to US Citizens as all candidates must be eligible for secret security clearance (clearance requires US Citizenship). Please note, clearance isn’t required to start (only eligibility). Candidates who are Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders), TN visa holders, H1B or F1 (OPT/CPT) candidates are NOT permitted in this role. This role is NOT open to corp2corp (C2C) or corp2hire (C2H)
We are seeking a Buyer to support defense procurement programs. This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships and overseeing subcontract and purchase order activities to ensure program requirements are met on time and within budget. The position will serve as a key liaison between suppliers and internal functional teams while ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage all procurement activities related to subcontracts and purchase orders, including both fixed price and cost reimbursement agreements
• Analyze material requirements using Oracle and MRP systems to support program needs
• Prepare and issue RFQs, RFPs, and RFIs to suppliers and subcontractors
• Conduct cost and price analysis of supplier proposals and quotes
• Lead proposal fact-finding and negotiations including pricing, terms, and conditions
• Prepare, place, and administer purchase orders while monitoring supplier performance and compliance
• Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to resolve quality, design, delivery, and payment issues
• Support source selection processes and supplier evaluations
• Lead purchase order kickoff meetings and supplier program reviews
• Monitor planning schedules to ensure purchase orders are placed within supplier lead times
• Ensure compliance with procurement laws, regulations, and company standards
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
• At least 1-2 years of post college work experience
• Experience with Oracle
• Strong experience in cost and price analysis and procurement documentation
• Negotiation skills with the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of procurement processes and supply chain operations
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
• Occasional domestic travel and possible international travel required
