Engineering Technician – PM Shift

Pay Range: $21–$23/hr
Position Summary
The Engineering Technician will provide hands-on support for in-use vehicle instrumentation, hardware, and test execution activities for IUVP/IUCP program requirements. This role is critical to ensuring the timely completion of regulatorily required in-use emissions testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare customer vehicles for lab certification testing, including:
- Installing tracking tags and temporary test equipment (MPR cable, marmon flanges, fuel drain, etc.).
- Removing drive shafts and installing high voltage breakout boxes (as applicable).
- Conducting pre-test evaluations, damage reports, aftermarket parts inspections, and pulling DTC codes.
- Remove, disassemble, reassemble, and replace vehicle mechanical systems using approved procedures; manage inventory of removed parts.
- Use PT Diag to pull vehicle data and perform drain & fill procedures.
- Document all work performed in accordance with approved procedures.
- Communicate vehicle status and obtain information from various requestors.
- Restore vehicles to their original received state for customer return.
Required Skills & Experience
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on record-keeping and data integrity.
- Experience with emissions test vehicles.
- Knowledge of emission control systems on modern gasoline and diesel engines.
- Familiarity with exhaust and evaporative emission test procedures.
- Ability to reprogram vehicle electronic control modules, pull bus queries, and check High Voltage PID (using PT Diag, DET, Intrepid, MyCanic).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Skilled in handling hazardous fuels, oils, coolants, and other materials safely.
Pre-Requisites (must be completed prior to start)
- High Voltage Safety Training (Orange Badge).
- General Safety Training.
- Motor Truck Training.
