Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator
Location: Holland, MI (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week (8:00 AM – 4:30/5:00 PM)
Experience Level: Entry-Level to Early Career (New Graduates encouraged to apply)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator to support a fast-paced purchasing and supply chain team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in a high-volume, dynamic environment.
The position plays a key role in ensuring timely procurement of materials, maintaining supplier relationships, and supporting overall supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute purchasing activities for direct materials based on project Bills of Material (BOMs) in alignment with supply chain strategy
- Coordinate with internal teams regarding material delivery timelines, payment terms, and product discrepancies
- Expedite materials as needed to support project timelines and production requirements
- Create and manage purchase orders within ERP systems (e.g., Ops Manager, Baan), ensuring accurate documentation
- Resolve discrepancies related to supplier invoices, packing slips, and deliveries
- Maintain professional communication with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Support working capital objectives, supplier on-time delivery, and cost savings initiatives
- Assist in developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Participate in negotiations related to pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms
- Collaborate with Commodity/Strategic Purchasing teams to optimize sourcing and supplier value
- Support standardization of supply chain processes and best practices across business units
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior or associate buyers as needed
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by Supply Chain leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- Open to recent graduates with strong organizational and communication skills
- 1–2 years of purchasing or supply chain experience preferred (internships considered)
- Experience in a manufacturing or project-based environment is a plus
- Familiarity with ERP systems (such as Baan or similar) preferred
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and ability to manage multiple priorities
