Senior Reliability Engineer

Job Overview

The Senior Reliability Engineer is responsible for interpreting, planning, and executing Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) requirements, particularly on government contracts. This role will participate in vehicle system design reviews to influence maintainability, interpret failure analysis data, recommend maintenance levels and repairs, and develop operator, maintenance, and troubleshooting instructions. The engineer will suggest design improvements to mitigate failures, reduce maintenance impacts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Aftermarket Supportability analysis of engineering designs, focusing on maintainability.
  • Work collaboratively with Test & Development, Design Engineering, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive product lifecycle support plans.
  • Analyze vehicle platforms using FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis), RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance), and LORA (Level of Repair Analysis).
  • Communicate with customers for planning and executing requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance during design, prototype, pilot, and production phases.
  • Recommend and help implement Conditioned Based Maintenance (CBM) solutions.
  • Collaborate with teams on aftermarket design, provisioning, publications, and validation to support technical manuals and databases development.
  • Work autonomously and provide proactive program status reporting.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for leadership and customers as needed.
  • Participate in the organization’s “People First” culture.
  • Explore and adopt new technologies to enhance vehicle logistics planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of vehicular systems and system integration.
  • Three (3) or more years of related experience in heavy equipment industries.
  • Experience in reliability and maintainability engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with CAD modeling software and ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced mathematical and statistical skills.
  • Advanced technical writing ability.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Diesel and/or agricultural equipment repair and assembly experience.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Arbor Text, VBA).
  • Experience with PTC products (Windchill, Creo, Windchill Quality Solutions).
  • Vendor development and support experience.
