Technical Manufacturing Supervisor
Location: New Albany, IN (with initial and future assignments at other sites: domestic or international as required)
Compensation Target: $90,000–$120,000K/year
Shift: Standard start is 8am–5pm; subsequent shifts may vary by department (e.g., 6am–3pm, 7am–4pm).
Summary/Objective
The Manufacturing Supervisor will participate in an intensive five-year development program, rotating through various manufacturing departments (Connectors, Stamping, HDR, etc.) to gain comprehensive operational expertise. This journey is designed to prepare you to lead a department at the program’s conclusion. The role requires flexibility to relocate for up to two years to a domestic Samtec location (such as Colorado, Wilsonville, etc.), with potential for international assignments (e.g., Costa Rica, Asia).
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Drive KPIs: Evaluate, measure, and manage Key Performance Indicators for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and environmental compliance across manufacturing areas.

Servant Leadership: Support, develop, and empower teams to achieve operational goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Quality Systems: Implement and enhance robust quality systems within complex electronics manufacturing processes.

Continuous Improvement: Champion real-time process control and apply lean manufacturing methodologies to consistently improve operations.

Global Collaboration: Oversee elements of global operations, contributing to the execution of the Samtec Service Model and global operations charter.

Strategic Cost Control: Develop and execute strategies to manage and reduce manufacturing costs (labor, materials, logistics, scrap, quality returns, etc.).

Customer Advocacy: Act as the voice of the customer regarding internal change management, discrepant material, and product qualifications.

Other Duties: Contribute to additional tasks and projects as aligned with your strengths and the team’s evolving needs.
Required Experience & Skills
- 5+ years in Manufacturing, Operations, or Engineering preferred.
- 2+ years of Supervisory/Management experience or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and proven self-starter within Operations/Manufacturing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in data analytics and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes; must not have sensory deprivation or paralysis of the limbs.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field strongly preferred.
- — Business or Operations Management degrees considered if accompanied by manufacturing background.
- Equivalent relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Additional Information
- The Supervisor will rotate through multiple departments, gaining exposure across all areas of manufacturing operations.
- Preference for candidates with connectors manufacturing experience, but open to strong manufacturing backgrounds in other areas.
