Manufacturing Engineer (MRO Support)


Type of Position:

5 to 6 month contract position to start. Likely to be renewed, likely to convert to direct hire long term.


Job Location:

Seymour, IN (hybrid role)


Compensation:

$42.96/hr to start. Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to support equipment spare parts strategy, indirect materials management, and cross-functional collaboration across manufacturing and maintenance operations. This on-site role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong technical and organizational skills, and enjoys bridging engineering, sourcing, and operational functions.


Responsibilities:

•  Research, investigate, and support the design, functionality, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, systems, and manufacturing processes.

•  Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, spare parts diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

•  Collaborate with Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, and the Indirect Materials Department to drive spares strategy and materials planning.

•  Develop and manage spare parts cataloging and inventory systems, including MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) storage.

•  Identify and source materials, cross-reference international and domestic suppliers, and support vendor communications.

•  Act as liaison across internal departments and external vendors to establish and sustain effective MRO processes.

•  Apply organizational skills to manage project trackers, Excel files, and reporting tools.

•  Generate and maintain computer-aided designs and documentation using engineering-related software.


Requirements:

•  5 to 7+ years of relevant experience with a relevant Bachelor’s Degree. Candidates without a degree will still be considered but would need to have 10+ years of relevant experience. A minimum of a High School Diploma / GED is required.

•  Strong technical understanding of spare parts, BOMs, and parts diagrams.

•  Experience with maintenance management systems such as Maximo or equivalent.

•  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and network-based filesharing systems.

•  Strong organizational and project tracking skills.

•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when interacting with vendors and cross-functional teams.

•  Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.


Preferred Qualifications:

•  A relevant Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

•  Experience with MRO storage systems and indirect crib management.

•  Background in manufacturing assembly, machining, maintenance, or plant manufacturing engineering.

•  Experience sourcing technical components and working with technical suppliers.

•  Familiarity with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.


Work Environment / Other Info:

•  This is a 1st (day) shift role. There will be some flexibility – but most of the team starts at 7:00am or 8:00am and works until 3:30pm to 4:30pm. 40 hours per week minimum, but there may be occasional overtime ( although not frequent). Any overtime will be paid at 1.5x.
