Senior Automotive Technician

Role Overview
Provide expert support across vehicle test fleet operations. Perform advanced repairs, diagnostics, and service; assist visiting technical teams; manage workshop inventory; and help ensure the highest safety, quality, and performance standards in every project.
Core Responsibilities (approx. % of time spent)
Test Fleet Support (90%)
- Conduct detailed inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance
- Install and manage data logging equipment; collect and document fluid samples
- Update and utilize engineering tools and manage workshop inventory
- Prepare vehicles for various uses, including end-of-life processes and driver rotations
- Communicate with partner teams, receive and process incoming parts, and manage technical records
Operational & Team Support (10%)
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the workshop and shared spaces
- Assist with non-testing departmental operations
- Provide support and answer questions for test drivers
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- 3–5 years of hands-on automotive technician experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two ASE Certifications (at least one powertrain-related)
- Automotive vocational/technical training or formal Automotive Technology certificate
Desired:
- Experience in an engineering test & development environment
- Additional product or manufacturer training
Key Skills & Competencies
Required:
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex technical problems
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, diagnostic engineering tools)
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently
- Proficiency in drivetrain diagnostics and recent hands-on experience
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced diagnostic tools (such as VAS testers, iDEX, Diagra, ODIS, CP Tool)
- Multilingual—especially German and/or Spanish
- Forklift certification and safe operation
- Resource and workload management in a fast-paced setting
Work Flexibility & Physical Requirements
- Core hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (minimum 40 hrs/week; occasional Saturdays/overtime)
- Occasional domestic and international travel for training and business
- Frequent operation of a range of motor vehicles, including performance classes (special training provided)
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
