Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will apply expertise of engineering principles and best practices in the design and development of electrical and electronic projects in various industries such as automotive, aerospace, military, and industrial equipment. The role will assign and define circuit options, harness in-lines, and connector numbers to the system logical schematics and will lead electrical system compatibility reviews. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Assign and define circuit options, harness in-lines and connector numbers to the system logical schematics as well as select fuse, wire, and terminal sizing based on application requirements.
•Lead electrical system compatibility reviews and sign-off wire harness prints.
•Integrate wire harnesses, connectors, sensors, switches, and electrical components into overall vehicle architecture.
•Develop wire harness architecture, routing, physical schematics and power distribution for electrical system requirements, logical design data and perform design rule checks.
•Identify and mitigate major electrical system failure modes and effects.
•Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and technical support to team members.
•Act as a liaison with program team, CAE analysis group, suppliers, and assembly for all design responsible parts.
•Develop and implement processes that deliver quality and timely product.
•Participate in programs, team meetings and training.
Education and Experience (required):
•Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
•Minimum 4 years of experience in vehicle electronics, electrical controls and wire packaging.
•Experience conducting presentations and management reviews.
•Experience with development and maintenance of Design Verification Plan & Reports/Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DVP&R/DFMEA).
Education and Experience (preferred):
•Military experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (required):
•Knowledge of Controller Area Network (CAN) bus protocol.
•Knowledge of wire harness design tools.
•Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others.
•Excellent presentation skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (preferred):
•Knowledge of Mentor Graphics and Zuken.
