Communications & Engagement Specialist

Location: Chattanooga, TN (fully remote)

Pay: $30-34.52/hour

Contract – 5 Months


Position Overview

The Communications & Engagement Specialist is a key contributor to the Workforce Communications team, supporting internal communications and employee engagement initiatives. This role focuses on content creation, analytics, and event coordination to ensure effective and timely communication across the organization.

This position offers strong visibility with leadership and requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Content Operations (40%)

  • Manage and publish content across internal communication platforms, including content hubs and intranet channels
  • Track, analyze, and report engagement metrics to measure communication effectiveness
  • Draft and edit short-form content for newsletters, digital signage, and internal announcements
  • Support photo/video shoots and content development efforts

2. Plant Communications & Engagement (40%)

  • Support communications related to safety updates, production milestones, and quality initiatives
  • Assist in planning and executing employee engagement events and community activities
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners on outreach and corporate social responsibility initiatives
  • Manage communication materials such as signage and collateral
  • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of plant-wide communications

3. Administrative & Team Support (20%)

  • Maintain editorial calendars and project timelines using project management tools
  • Process purchase orders, invoices, and assist with budget tracking
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide logistical support for leadership communications and engagement initiatives

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience

  • 5–7 years of experience in:
  • Corporate Communications
  • Internal Communications
  • Public Relations / Public Affairs
  • Community Relations
  • Marketing (corporate or agency environment)

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced analytical abilities with experience in data reporting (Excel proficiency required)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and professionalism
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and resources effectively
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with leadership, technical teams, and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong collaboration skills across all levels of the organization



Technical & Specialized Skills

Required

  • Content creation and curation for internal communications
  • Basic visual communication skills (PowerPoint, Canva, or similar)
  • Familiarity with analytics dashboards and reporting tools
  • Experience supporting events and engagement initiatives
  • Ability to assist with media content creation (photo/video coordination)

Preferred

  • Experience with email marketing platforms and content management systems
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Basic video editing skills (e.g., Premiere Pro or similar)
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of internal communications best practices and emerging digital tools
