Type of Position:

This position will begin as a 6-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 6 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.

Candidate Requirements:

This role is ONLY open to US Citizens. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) and any other work authorizations are NOT permitted here as this role requires eligibility to obtain a secret clearance (a secret clearance is only open to US Citizens). To be clear, a clearance isn’t required to start (but all candidates must be eligible to obtain one eventually). Due to the nature of this role (working for a defense contractor tied to the federal government) – candidates may need to pass a drug screen (which would include cannabis). There would be no exceptions to this (eg: a medical card).

Job Location:

Fort Walton Beach, FL (on site role).

Compensation:

$17.59/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours. This role is expected to have regular OT.

Overview:

HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense contractor to hire a Material Handler for our facility in Fort Walton Beach, FL. This role is responsible for loading, unloading, and conveying materials within or near our facility. This role performs a variety of tasks under specific direction, which may include shipping and receiving activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Opening containers using hand tools.
• Counting, weighing, and sampling materials.
• Using computer systems to track, log, verify, and record information.
• Loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, multi-level racks, conveyors, and machines manually.
• Loading or unloading materials into or from trucks by hand.
• Conveying materials using wheelbarrow, hand truck, forklift, electric dolly, elevator, or other equipment.
• Stacking or assembling materials.
• Assisting machine operators by lifting heavy objects by hand or using power hoists.

Skills, Education, Experience – Required:

• High school diploma or GED required at a minimum. Higher level education is also welcome.  
• Prior warehouse experience is required.
• Strong organizational skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as needed
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Skills, Education, Experience – Preferred:

• Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle / JDE, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.

Work Environment:

• This is a 1st (day) shift role. Typical hours are 7:00am to 4:30pm (Monday to Friday).
• There regular overtime is expected in this role. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x.
