Quality Inspector Supervisor


Type of Position:

This is a contract position with an initial 3-month duration. This could extend longer and may possibly lead to direct hire employment long term.


Candidate Requirements:

This position is ONLY open to candidates who are US Citizens or Green Card Holders (Permanent Residents). Candidates on all other work visas are not permitted.


Job Location:

This role will be based at a Volvo logistics supplier’s warehouse near the major Volvo manufacturing plant in Dublin, VA.


Compensation:

$30.00/hr to $33.00/hr to start. Overtime will be paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.


Benefits:

  • Available (medical, dental, 401k, vision, etc) – benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
  • No PTO is provided during the contract period (you are paid only for the hours worked). However, upon transitioning to a direct hire, you would receive extensive PTO.


Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a global service provider to the automotive and component supply industry. We are looking to hire a Quality Inspector Supervisor who will be supporting Volvo. This role will be based at a Volvo logistics supplier’s warehouse near the major Volvo manufacturing plant in Dublin, VA. The Quality Inspection Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the inspection process, ensuring accurate documentation, and communicating critical quality information to stakeholders. This position will focus on supervising quality inspections, analyzing trends, ensuring compliance with automotive quality standards, and driving root cause analysis and corrective actions in collaboration with customers and internal teams. This will be a 1st (day) shift role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Collection & Reporting

  • Structured Documentation: Document findings for each non-conforming part in an organized Inspection Report, ensuring alignment with the provided example format.
  • Reporting Consistency: Ensure all reports adhere to customer and organizational requirements.
  • KPI Dashboard Management: Maintain a KPI dashboard tracking defect trends using tools such as Pareto charts and defect distribution analytics.
  • Regular Summaries: Provide weekly and monthly summary reports of inspection findings, highlighting key trends and insights.

Escalation & Communication

  • Issue Escalation: Immediately escalate any critical quality issues that could impact production flow or customer satisfaction.
  • Stakeholder Meetings: Participate in weekly alignment meetings with customer representatives to review quality trends, issues, and findings.
  • Customer Collaboration: Work closely with customer Quality teams on root cause analysis and development of corrective and preventive actions.

Performance Metrics & Deliverables

  • Inspection Reports: Produce detailed inspection reports for each part, including serial number, estimated reworked area (%), defect types/locations, photographic evidence, and required rework.
  • Defect Tracking: Update and maintain KPI dashboards with relevant defect data, perform Pareto analysis, and develop recommendations for defect reduction.
  • Timeliness: Submit all inspection reports within 24 hours of part arrival.
  • Effectiveness: Drive improvements that ensure a measurable reduction of defective parts passed through inspection and alignment with customer quality expectations.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Automotive Quality Inspection Experience: Preferably in body panels, assemblies, or paint defect inspection.
  • Standards Knowledge: Strong understanding of defect classification methods and ISO/TS 16949 automotive quality standards.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience using documentation and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and digital inspection equipment.
  • Drawing & Standard Interpretation: Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and quality specifications.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and process discipline to ensure consistent inspection and reporting standards.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting findings and engaging in quality meetings.

Work Environment / Other Info:

  • This will be a 1st (day) shift role.
  • Overtime is paid at time and a half (1.5x) for hours worked beyond 40 per week.
  • Job may will be contingent on a background check and drug screen (including cannabis and a breathalyzer test for alcohol) as a part of the hiring process.
  • Ability to work on-site in an automotive production/inspection environment.
  • May require standing for extended periods and light lifting.
