Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products to hire a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Technician for our facility in Ladson, SC. This role involves being an active presence on the shop floor observing HSE practices and maintaining interactions with employees / contractors. This role will also include the delivery of a variety of HSE training. This will be an on-site role that is on 2nd shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhancing Safety Culture – Integrate HSE practices into daily operations to foster a safer work environment.
- Identifying & Addressing Gaps – Ensure compliance by assessing gaps in corporate HSE initiatives and local policies.
- Incident Management – Identify hazards, investigate incidents, and conduct risk assessments to prevent future occurrences.
- Training & Awareness – Deliver training and effectively communicate HSE procedures to increase awareness.
- Environmental Management – Support sustainability initiatives and coordinate environmental activities.
- Emergency Preparedness – Implement and maintain emergency response plans to minimize risks.
- Quality Assurance – Conduct quality checks and identify non-conforming materials to maintain high standards.
- Team Collaboration – Foster a collaborative environment to drive improvements in safety, quality, and overall processes.
Qualifications / Competencies:
- Process Optimization – Identify and implement efficient processes to improve productivity and safety.
- Health & Safety Expertise – Champion safety behaviors and contribute to an injury-free workplace.
- Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis – Conduct thorough investigations to ensure effective corrective actions.
- HSE Management Systems Knowledge – Apply international standards to maintain and certify an HSE management system.
- Risk Assessment Proficiency – Use assessment techniques to prioritize and implement risk control measures.
Education / Experience Requirements:
- Required - High school diploma or GED is required at a minimum.
- Preferred - Two-year degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related field is preferred. An OSHA 10 certification is preferred. An OSHA 30 certification is desired.
- Experience - Significant hands-on experience in health, safety, and environmental functions, with specialized training. We are generally seeking 5+ years of relevant experience.
Work Environment / Other Info:
- This is a 2nd (afternoon) shift role. Our standard schedule is 3:00pm to 11:30pm (Monday to Friday).
- This will be an on-site role (no remote / hybrid work).
- There may be occasional overtime (although not frequent).
- You will need to pass a background check and drug screen (including cannabis) for this role.
