Controls Engineer

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controls Engineer to lead and support automation integration projects, focusing on collaborative robotics and advanced vision systems within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role involves a mix of hands-on robotics programming, project management, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and implementation of automation projects involving:
  • Collaborative robots (Fanuc CRX Series)
  • Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)
  • 3D Vision Systems
  • Provide daily technical support for production systems to improve safety, quality, and uptime
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process and equipment failures
  • Supervise skilled trades personnel as needed
  • Ensure adherence to corporate safety and controls standards
  • Develop and manage system documentation and maintenance SOPs
  • Participate in downtime planning and new equipment launch activities
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams for knowledge transfer and issue resolution

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Will consider an associate degree focused on Robotics Engineering with strong practical experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial automation

Strong experience with:

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting (Rockwell and Siemens platforms)
  • Robotics integration, especially collaborative robots (Fanuc CRX Series)
  • Vision system implementation
  • Hands-on experience with automation in assembly and body shop environments
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Experience in robotic safety validation and buy-off
  • Experience writing programs and managing robotic installations from start to finish

  • On-site industrial manufacturing setting
  • Fast-paced with aggressive project timelines
  • Collaborative team of 5–6 engineers within a central controls team
