Field Service Mechanic – Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV)

Location: On-site / Field Support (customer site)


Position Overview

The Field Service Mechanic supports the Field Service Representative (FSR) in servicing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) platform. This role is responsible for helping ensure vehicle readiness and minimizing interruptions to test and operational activities.

The mechanic will provide hands-on technical support during vehicle testing, troubleshooting, repair, de-processing, and fielding activities as vehicles transition to operational units. This role requires strong diagnostic capabilities, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively within a field support team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs).
  • Support vehicle testing, validation, and operational readiness activities.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and recommend appropriate repair actions and required parts.
  • Assist with vehicle de-processing and fielding to gaining units.
  • Communicate clearly with the Field Service Representative (FSR) regarding vehicle condition, diagnostics, repair timelines, and parts requirements.
  • Interpret and utilize technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics.
  • Safely operate hand tools, shop equipment, power tools, and lifting devices required for vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers and project teams while representing the organization professionally.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, shop tools, power tools, and precision measurement equipment including micrometers, depth gauges, and finish gauges.


Preferred Skills

  • Ability to work independently in field environments.
  • Experience using tablets and digital maintenance systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot conventional electrical systems.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and other electronic test tools.


Required Experience

  • Knowledge of military maintenance systems and processes at all levels of repair.
  • Experience working with technical manuals and engineering documentation.
  • Strong understanding of system-level troubleshooting techniques.
  • Minimum of:
  • Two (2) years of experience performing duties as an ACV Field Service Representative, OR
  • Four (4) years of experience in a military maintenance MOS, such as:
  • 2141
  • 2147
  • 2149
  • 2110
  • with training on ACV operation and maintenance.
  • Experience supporting Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) operations for at least 2–3 years.


Preferred Experience

  • 3–4 years of Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) maintenance experience.
  • Cursor 16 engine experience and/or FIAT Powertrain training.
  • Allison 4800 Series transmission experience and/or Allison certification.
  • Previous military MOS experience such as:
  • 2141
  • 2147
  • 3521


Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Relevant Associate’s degree or military technical training preferred.
  • Additional 4 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems related to military vehicle platforms may be considered in lieu of formal education.
