Electrical Engineer

Location: Fridley, MN

Schedule: 9/80 (every other Friday off)

Travel: Up to 20% domestic travel (no more than one week per month) when issues arise

Position Summary

BAE Systems, a leading defense contractor, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the development, testing, fabrication, and fielding of highly complex military equipment within our Combat Mission Systems business. This role involves designing and analyzing electronic and electrical systems for military applications, including combat vehicles, gun systems, and guided munitions. The Electrical Engineer will work under the general direction of a project engineering lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product specifications, simulations, and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic and electrical systems and components.
  • Utilize advanced modeling and analysis tools to develop product specifications, models, simulations, and technical data packages.
  • Develop and manage interface control documents.
  • Create, read, and comprehend schematics and interconnect drawings.
  • Perform circuit simulations using PSpice or LTspice.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities, technologies, and services to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Provide detailed engineering analysis of components, subsystems, and systems for military product applications.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, reports, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system integration and verification.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems.
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in creating, reading, and comprehending schematics and interconnect drawings.
  • Strong ability to create and manage interface control documents.
  • Experience performing circuit simulations using PSpice or LTspice.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey data, technical results, and project updates.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on troubleshooting of circuits using oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice, LabVIEW, Test Stand, RS485, J-Tag, and CANBus.
  • Working knowledge of OrCAD and Visio.
  • Experience with engineering design of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for military systems.
  • Experience programming National Instruments test equipment using LabVIEW and Test Stand.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.

Education & Experience

  • Required:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience
  • OR Master’s degree with 1+ year of relevant experience
