Machine Build Leader

Location: Warren, MI

Pay: $26–$28 per hour

Long term contract to hire position


Position Overview

As a Machine Build Leader, you will directly supervise and mentor a team of 10–50 skilled Machine Builders. You will be responsible for driving high-quality workmanship, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely completion of projects. Your leadership will be pivotal from the initial phases of machine assembly through installation at the customer's plant. This role requires strong technical expertise, organizational skills, and a demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

-    Team Leadership:

-    Direct, supervise, and motivate a team of Machine Builders on the shop floor.

-    Plan, assign, and monitor work schedules; reward and discipline employees per company policy.

-    Provide ongoing training and development.

-    Project Management:

-    Oversee equipment installation from build to customer site, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.

-    Organize and manage material flow; forecast, allocate, and monitor manpower requirements.

-    Collaboration & Communication:

-    Liaise with engineering, purchasing, management, and customers for timely project completion.

-    Coordinate closely with other departments, including Electrical, PLC Programming, Pipefitting, and Robot Programming.

-    Technical Support:

-    Offer technical guidance for in-house staff and contract workers; troubleshoot issues as they arise.

-    Compliance and Safety:

-    Uphold and enforce all company policies, procedures, and safety/environmental regulations.

-    Promote and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and adhere to quality systems.

-    Other Expectations:

-    Regular, predictable attendance is essential.

-    Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues promptly and professionally.

Required Skills and Qualifications

-    Associate’s degree (preferred), or minimum 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

-    Proven ability to supervise, guide, and grow technical teams.

-    Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial equipment assembly.

-    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, business communications, and regulatory materials.

-    Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedures.

-    Excellent problem-solving skills; able to address issues in dynamic environments.

-    Competent in mathematics, including probability, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, ratios, and proportions.

-    Able to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
