What You’ll Do

As a Mechanical Engineer II, you’ll lead critical aspects of mechanical design, validation, and release for complex defense systems. This role combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and direct collaboration with customers. You’ll have ownership over your workstreams while mentoring junior engineers and influencing program direction.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Design & Development (30%) – Own component and system design within integrated project teams.
  • Prototyping & Testing (20%) – Transform designs into real-world functional prototypes, collaborating with fabrication and test teams.
  • Project Leadership (25%) – Plan, estimate, schedule, and coordinate technical project aspects while ensuring cost, quality, and timing objectives.
  • Customer Engagement (10%) – Present technical updates, solutions, and recommendations to both internal stakeholders and external defense customers.
  • Technical Excellence (15%) – Apply military standards, GD&T, and engineering best practices to ensure robust, reliable designs.
  • Mentorship – Share knowledge and guide entry-level and junior engineers.


What You Bring

  • Education & Experience (Required):
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of engineering experience in defense or automotive industries.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of complex mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, actuators, electrical/mechanical integration).
  • Hands-on problem-solving with a track record of delivering cost-effective, timely solutions.
  • Skilled in DFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, FEA, GD&T, bolted/welded joint applications.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo/ProE, Siemens NX) and MATLAB.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Ground combat vehicle design or development exposure.
  • Automotive product development lifecycle knowledge.
  • Familiarity with OEM release systems and procedures.
