Job Title:

Senior Designer (Creo 9)


Type of Position:

6-month contract role to start. Possible for extension, long term likely for direct hire.


Candidate Requirements:

  • This position is only open to US Citizens and Permanent Residents (Green Card holders). Candidates requiring visa sponsorship or holding work authorizations such as H-1B, F-1, or TN visas are not eligible for any positions with this company. 
  • Due to the nature of this role with a defense contractor supporting the federal government, candidates will be required to pass a comprehensive drug screening, which includes testing for cannabis. No exceptions will be made, including for medical cannabis prescriptions or state-level legalizations.


Job Location:

Sterling Heights, MI (on site role)


Compensation:

$59.56/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Overview:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major defense contractor to hire a Senior Designer. We are seeking candidates with Creo 9 experience to support program initiatives in the military / defense space.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products.
  • Collaborates with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers to define design specifications.
  • Ensures designs are free of layout process defects and comply with engineering and military standards.
  • Applies Computer-Aided Design (CAD) methodologies, theories, and techniques.
  • Prepares design layouts, schematics, sketches, test plans, procedures, and specifications.
  • Creates drawing packages in compliance with military and ASME standards.
  • Ensures CAD models are compatible with modeling and simulation software.
  • Reviews and checks completed layouts, drawings, test reports, and engineering change documentation for clarity, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Coordinates with systems engineers to ensure designs meet contractual requirements.
  • Evaluates completed drawings and specifications for producibility, tolerances, fits, finishes, and materials.


Skills, Experience, Education Required:

  • Creo 9 experience is a must-have.
  • Minimum of nine (9) years of drafting and design experience, including five (5) years of advanced design concepts and applications.
  • Associate Degree in engineering drafting/design OR equivalent training and experience. Must have a High School Diploma OR GED at a minimum.
  • Proficient in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong knowledge of military drawings, MILSPEC/STD’s, and ASME standards.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and file manipulation.
  • Understanding of production methods and human factors.
  • Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience using Pro-E/Creo CAD.


Skills, Experience, Education Preferred:

  • Past Combat Vehicle experience strongly preferred.
  • Model-Based Definition (MBD) experience is a huge plus.


Work Environment:

  • This is a 1st (day) shift role that works a 9/80 schedule (9-hour days, every other Friday off). The schedule is generally 7:00am to 4:30pm.
  • Due to the complexity of the work and processes, this position requires onsite presence. No remote work.
  • There will be occasional overtime in this role. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x.
  • Offer will be contingent upon a drug screen (which includes cannabis) and criminal background check.
