Safety Specialist
Location: Radford, VA
Contract: 2 years with possibility of direct hire
Schedule: 1st Shift but may do some off shift support from time to time
Compensation: $46.20/hour, PTO, and optional Benefits
Position Description:
How does it feel to work on a team driven to make a significant impact? Empowering. Our client seeks a senior-level Safety Specialist to support its site in Radford, Virginia. As a Safety Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the site's Safety programs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Demonstrating a strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Collaborating with operating units and maintenance to achieve 100% compliance.
- Proactively identifying safety issues.
- Striving to minimize recordable injury rates by working closely with the SHE department and the entire Radford site.
- Engaging with a variety of safety-related programs such as LO/TO, Confined Space, hot work, electrical, guarding, walking surfaces, risk assessment, and DoD Regulations for ARMY Contractors.
- Sharing expertise and knowledge with the Radford team.
Note: This position requires 100% on-site support.
Skills Required:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively disseminate information to a diverse employee population.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and industry-related software applications.
- Capable of providing on-site, "boots on the ground" support.
Skills Preferred:
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is a plus.
Experience Required:
- Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations, particularly OSHA.
- Experience in conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
Education Required:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a Safety-related discipline with four (4) years of related experience or equivalent overall experience.
