Laboratory Technician Trainee (PFAS)
Location: Norwell, MA (141 Longwater Drive, Suite 202)
Pay Rate: $19–$21/hr
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours/week
Shift: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Position Overview
Battelle’s Analytical Chemistry Services (ACS) Laboratory in Norwell, MA is seeking a Laboratory Technician Trainee to support environmental testing focused on PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated substances). This nationally recognized lab partners with government and industry clients to deliver high-quality, non-routine analytical services.

Key Responsibilities
- Process environmental samples in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs)
- Perform and document quality control checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of sample preparation
- Accurately enter data, results, and observations into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces while adhering to lab safety protocols
- Collaborate with team members to meet project timelines and quality standards
- Support additional lab activities as needed
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Chemistry or related field OR equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience
- At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience (academic or professional)
- Experience preparing environmental samples for chemical analysis
- Familiarity with Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) techniques
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work second shift hours and occasional overtime
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PFAS extraction using EPA Method 537.1 and/or EPA Method 533
- Experience working with non-potable water, soil, or tissue samples (DoD QSM 6.0)
- Knowledge of DoD QSM 6.0 1633 PFAS extraction requirements
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as Geno/Grinder, SPE systems, centrifuges, and balances
- Ability to perform basic calculations and summarize laboratory data
