Supply Chain Coordinator – Norfolk, VA


Contract: 12 months with possible extension/direct hire

Schedule: Onsite, M-F | 7:15am – 4:00pm

Compensation: $35-37/hour optional PTO and benefits



Position Overview:

The Supply Chain Coordinator (SCC) supports the modernization, conversion, and overhaul of government and commercial ships. As an integral member of the program management team, this role oversees and manages materials and subcontractors during program execution, ensuring compliance with all requirements and directives throughout the program life cycle. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of ship repair, and experience in project management, planning, operations, and supply chain processes. The SCC works closely with supply chain program management, proactively managing supplier performance, and collaborating with procurement/subcontract administrators to ensure performance expectations and compliant subcontract documentation.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate contract requirements, specifications, and customer expectations to all departments and subcontractors.
  • Execute contracts in compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Prepare project reports for management, identifying variances to project plans that need attention.
  • Ensure subcontractors meet integrated project plans, including schedules and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA, USCG, ABS, OSHA, and applicable commercial/maritime regulations.
  • Oversee subcontractor efforts and address issues unresolved by craft supervision.
  • Conduct ship checks, attend meetings, and contribute to production schedules and manpower projections.
  • Ensure subcontractors are aware of milestones, key events, and target dates for assigned work.



Required Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years work experience in a ship repair environment.
  • Proven experience in project management, coordination, and leadership in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ship repair and shipbuilding processes, including NAVSEA, USCG, ABS, and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel; adaptable to new systems and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and practices (SPI, CPI, BAC, etc.).
  • Ability to multi-task and drive execution to deliver results.
  • Strong people management and team leadership skills for motivating cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with internal stakeholders (Estimating, Quality Assurance, Environmental, Production Support).
  • Ability to assess production progress, identify improvement areas, and discuss status with leadership and management.



Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • None specifically listed, but additional shipyard, maritime, or project management certifications and experience are considered a plus.



Education Required:

  • 3+ years work experience in a ship repair environment.
