Engineer – Test & Development
Position Summary
Under the guidance and supervision of senior engineering staff, the Engineer – Test & Development will plan, coordinate, and work with technicians to accomplish projects involving heavy-duty vehicle testing and/or development.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and assigned tasks according to industry engineering standards and processes under close supervision.
- Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and reports.
- Support projects of limited complexity in a support role.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and business support disciplines and with external suppliers, as required.
- Assist with the establishment of requirements for testing heavy-duty vehicles and associated equipment to meet project needs.
- Recommend necessary equipment resources for testing.
- Assist in developing project estimates.
- Support the creation and communication of test plans to engineers and technicians.
- Develop plans for fixtures and test apparatuses and supervise their construction and development.
- Coordinate, supervise, and monitor progress of testing.
- Recommend corrective actions needed to meet schedule and cost targets.
- Communicate test status and results as needed.
Travel: Potentially 10-20% to CONUS (contiguous United States) locations.
- Support resolution meetings and team member safety discussions.
- Research, plan, and execute testing in accordance with established standards.
- Identify improvement opportunities within defined standards to support projects.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular attendance as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, with at least internship experience or 6+ months of related work experience.
Standout Qualifications
- Experience in automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment is a plus.

- Must be a hands-on person who is willing to get involved with vehicle work.

Physical Demands:
- Frequent: Standing, walking/running, sitting, reaching, hearing, talking, visual tasks, typing
- Occasional: Driving, fine/manual dexterity, repetitive upper extremity motion
- Seldom: Lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs.

- Frequent: Working alone, frequent task changes, tedious/exacting work

Work Schedule: Routine shift hours; infrequent overtime, weekends, or shift rotations.
Demands/Deadlines: Occasional stress due to deadlines or workload from intermittent or cyclical work pressures; possible occasional exposure to distressed individuals in the work environment.
