Machine Tool Electrician
Position Overview
The individual in this role is expected to independently perform electrician duties within a machine tool manufacturing environment, with minimal to no guidance from a Skilled Trades Leader.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Machine & Panel Wiring
- Wire machinery from drawings and bill of materials
- Wire electrical panels
- Install communication blocks
- Wire Ethernet systems
- Wire auxiliary power circuits
- Wire robots
- Wire safety circuits
- Wire 480V systems
- Tie in tools and complete final dress of tools to controls
- Install temporary power
Installation & Fabrication
- Bend and install conduit
- Prepare tools with I/O blocks, DeviceNet, and ductwork
- Verify tags; tag units and cords
- Run and dress cords per customer requirements
- Drill, tap, and ream holes as required
Tools & Equipment Operation
- Use hand saws, drill presses, grinders, and related equipment

- VOM (Multi-meter)
- Tape measure (metric & standard)
- Combination square
- Torpedo level with magnetic base
Hand Tools
- Straight blade screwdrivers (small & medium)
- #1 and #2 Phillips screwdrivers
- Channel locks (2 pairs)
- Side cutters / flush cutters
- 1/0 cable cutters
- Wire strippers
- Stakon crimpers (#10–#14 wire size)
- Cable strippers
- Razor knife
- Small ball peen or brass hammer
- Center punch
- Files (small and medium)
Allen, Socket & Wrench Sets
- Allen wrenches (metric & standard)
- Socket wrench set (metric & standard)
- Combination wrench set:
- 1/4" to 3/4"
- 7mm to 16mm
- Crescent wrenches (6" & 10")
Pneumatic Tools
- Air nozzle
- Air drill
- Air die grinder
- Air 90° polish tool
