Senior Mechanical Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Technician to join our defense systems team working on a high-profile ground vehicle turret project. This role will be instrumental in the development, testing, and integration of advanced mechanical and electronic systems for military ground vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed plans and strategies for turret system design, fabrication, and testing
  • Establish and build a specialized testing laboratory for turret systems and components
  • Integrate software controls and interfaces with mechanical turret fixtures
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and validation of mechanical components
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to refine designs and resolve technical issues
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of designs, test procedures, and results
  • Ensure compliance with defense industry standards and security protocols

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical systems for defense applications, preferably with ground combat vehicles
  • Demonstrated understanding of armored vehicle mechanics, particularly turret systems
  • Experience building and maintaining laboratory testing environments
  • Proficiency with mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience integrating software with mechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • Prior military experience, particularly with armored vehicles or weapons systems
  • Experience with CAD software and design tools
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and electronic control systems
  • Familiarity with MIL-SPEC standards and requirements
  • Experience with ballistic testing and related safety protocols

Work Environment

This position operates in a laboratory/workshop setting with exposure to mechanical equipment and testing procedures. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a secure environment with strict compliance requirements.
