Quality Technician
Location: West Caldwell, NJ
Contract: 6 months (potential for extension or direct hire)
Schedule: 9/80 schedule | 7:30 AM start | Occasional travel required; some support may be performed remotely for Huntsville operations
Compensation: $26–$27/hour + paid sick leave and optional benefits
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Quality Technician to support advanced technologies for mission-critical aerospace and defense programs. In this role, you will collaborate closely with quality engineers to ensure the accuracy and compliance of production records, supplier documentation, and inspection reports. This position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work across multiple departments to drive quality excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and other dimensional inspection documentation.
- Review supplier-submitted AS9102 FAIRs and dimensional reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Compile, organize, and finalize End Item Data Packages (EIDP).
- Administer and maintain calibration systems in compliance with AS9100 and ISO 17025 standards, including cycle inventory updates across multiple sites.
- Serve as the Electostatic Discharge (ESD) coordinator; conduct full program audits per ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements.
- Inspect grounding systems, flooring, workstations, carts, and shelving for adherence to ESD policies.
- Manage test equipment calibration, certifications, and vendor coordination.
- Review quality data and support corrective action activities.
- Utilize internal databases and software systems to gather, track, and maintain quality information.
- Create purchase requisitions and obtain quotes from external calibration vendors.
- Coordinate with operations to maintain site calibration schedules.
- Support receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with operations, planning, quality, and inspection teams.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and other quality metrics.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and supplier records.
- Participate in process audits, reviews, and documentation updates.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in quality assurance.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Hands-on experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection.
- Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System standards.
- Training or certification in IPC-A-610 and IPC-J-STD-001.
- Familiarity with GD&T and technical print reading.
- Experience using electrical and mechanical inspection tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and quality/data software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
- Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense industry experience.
- Experience with business systems such as Oracle, Factory Logics, Power BI, Tableau, Agile, or Net-Inspect.
