Director of Business Development – Integrated Air & Missile Defense Systems and Fires Support Solutions
Location: Remote (Preference for Huntsville, AL region)
Salary: $170,000–$190,000 + up to 20% bonus, comprehensive benefits
Travel: Up to 40% for customer meetings, tradeshows, and company site visits
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Business Development to drive growth and sustain strategic relationships within the Air & Missile Defense and Fires Support Solutions sectors. This role will focus on expanding existing customer relationships while identifying and securing new business opportunities with Tier 1 OEMs, the U.S. Department of Defense, and allied organizations.
The position is primarily remote, with a preference for candidates in the Huntsville, AL region to facilitate travel and on-site engagements. The successful candidate will participate in onboarding visits to manufacturing facilities and meetings with key engineers to gain a deep understanding of our products and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead business development efforts for Integrated Air & Missile Defense and Fires Support Solutions, managing capture and growth initiatives across Tier 1 OEMs and U.S. DoD programs.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to maximize revenue, profitability, and market share.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, program management, and product teams to define pricing, product strategy, and go-to-market plans.
- Partner with marketing to create campaigns and materials that support business growth objectives.
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities and areas of organic growth.
- Manage the bid process with Inside Sales to ensure cost visibility and margin objectives are met.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of market trends, competitors, and product offerings to inform strategic decisions.
- Forecast and achieve annual and quarterly revenue targets.
- Travel as needed (up to 40%) to engage with customers, attend tradeshows, and visit company facilities.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 15+ years of business development experience with a proven record of driving growth and leading teams.
- Background in air and missile defense systems, defense OEMs, or comparable military/DoD experience preferred.
- Experience in capture management, proposal development, negotiation, and strategic planning.
- Understanding of how defense products integrate into vehicle platforms and associated program structures.
- Strong ability to identify new products or platforms for integration and growth opportunities.
- Flexible and results-oriented, capable of travel based on business needs.
